Pitching is the Cubs weakest of the trinity (Hitting, Pitching, Fielding) this year. Lester is the only starter expected to get more than 200 strike outs. Lester has also been the most unreliable, and it's not his fault. He can't be pushed as hard as he once was. That said, it is hard to go all the way without an ace. I have talked about the runs the pitching staff has given up, but overall it's better than the first half of the season.

Of the trinity, hitting is the most skewed. It is projected that the Cubs will have 6 players with 20 or more Home Runs. I could not find anything like this in Cubs history. That is because it has never happened.
Teams With Most 20 Home Runs Hitters

1996 Baltimore Orioles 7
2000 Toronto Blue Jays 7
2005 Texas Rangers 7
2009 New York Yankees 7
2010 Toronto Blue Jays 7
1965 Milwaukee Braves 6
2003 Atlanta Braves 6
2016 St. Louis Cardinals 6
2016 Washington Nationals 6

This table suggests that power hitting as a team is increasing and is a newer trend.

If you look at the last three years, the Cubs have increased power, lowered hits/runs.

So far in 2017 and projected
