In the ten years that Tracy and I were married, she was always winning stuff. Game tickets, food, movies, DVD player, stereo, money. It was kind of a joke between us how often she won stuff.

After one of Aaron's ballgames we went out to eat at Culvers. Tracy entered her name at Culvers on July 10th, for a mountain bike. I was just notified that she won :)

I picked it up yesterday. I did not need the bike. I already have a mountain bike and Aaron has a brand new mountain bike. But I felt that I was supposed to.

No one questioned me or asked for my ID. I just gave them the paper.

Yep, it came with that helmet. No, my van is not purple. It was 6:15 when I took the photo and my camera messes up on colors. (time for a new camera soon)

It is a very nice bike. Much better than we have. Aluminum frame, super lite.

Most important it's Tracy's.

The United States is known as being the world's most stable democracy. But since the Florida 2000 fiasco, things have changed. Europe's famous Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) will now be monitoring the U.S. elections. The institution normally monitors elections in third world countries in transition, and in crisis areas or regions where civil wars have destabilized the political process. In november, the OSCE will be monitoring local and state elections in Kazakhstan, Skopje, Eastern Congo, Ouagadougou and... the United States. As the BBC reports, for some Americans this comes as a humiliation; others see it as a necessity, since they have lost trust in the American election process.

Iraq:

Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy. Providing health care to all Americans is socialism.

The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.

Morals and Ethics:

A president lying about an extramarital affair is a impeachable offense. A president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is solid defense policy.

Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host like Rush Limbaugh. Then it's an illness, and you need our prayers for your recovery.

What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but what Bush did in the '80s is irrelevant.

Policy:
Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.

Trade:
Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.

Thanks Deb :)

9 year old American short hair, female, black with white face and feet. has an unique goatee. Very good with young children, has taken years of abuse without biting. Front paws declawed.

3 year old Norwegian, female, tan, red, grey mixture. Has the signature fur, nose, tuffs of hair between paws and meow. Shy at first but loving. Front paws declawed. An indoors only cat.

Both free to a good home.

A while ago I had Tons of family tree data spread out over several flat databases. There was so much data, it was hard to sort through. I'm now taking this data and reorganizing it. So hopefully soon I will have some of the data back online.

OS News did a review of slackware 10. They gave it a thumbs up. I have to disagree with at least one point the author makes though. Concerning the installation, I still think slackware is one of the harder distros to install.

from OS News:

'Slackware 10 is a well-rounded distribution that will continue to make a first-class Linux server platform. Changes in the new release are incremental, not radical, and Slackware remains one of the most stable, reliable and flexible distributions available today. True to tradition, Slackware 10 is refreshingly free of the convoluted and confusing "enhancements" often added by other Linux vendors that can make straightforward system administration tasks a real pain if you don't use their GUI tools. If you build and manage Linux server systems, I certainly recommend trying a Slackware solution!'

I'm fairly concerned about the lengths that Bush and supporting Republicans are going to suppress freedom of speech in the last 3 months. It has been a while in American history since such measures have been seen.

Jimmy Wright was kicked in the head by one of our horses on the Farm. I hope Jimmy gets better soon.

I would like to thank Chuck and Joanne for hosting the second annual UHACC SCO-BQ. It was a great time. Yesterday Aaron had his "baseball day". Two hits, plus some great throws and catches. I`m quite proud.

An interesting article on OS news that asks the question:
Is Linux becoming as bloated and slow as Windows? My worry on the coming trend is that Linux may also become as unstable as Windows. So what should happen? http://www.osnews.com/story.php?news_id=7324
