Q. Does GEDXchange run on Linux? What operating system does GEDXchange run on?
A. Yes, GEDXchange is developed and tested with Linux in mind. It is also heavily tested with OSX. GEDXchange has even been ported to MS Windows by several means. I'm sure it could be compiled on other operating systems.
Q. Does GEDXchange Require Gnome or KDE libraries?
Q. How do I compile the source?
A. Make sure you have a C compiler, X11 Lib (libx11-dev), and Xpm Lib (libxpm-dev) loaded.
In the source directory extracted from the tar file, run the complie file.
- With Linux and OSX, in the source directory run './compile'
- With windows run 'compile.bat'
Q. How do I start GEDXchange?
A. With GEDCOM Tools, run gedstart. If at the command line, ./gedstart
